Why are our tools so affordable? I have been asking this question many times as I notice our competitors prices. We have not raised our prices in over 10 years! I attribute it to the fact that my husband John W. Kallenbach, President of A-1 Tool, is slow to commit to any change. I am certain he gets it from his father, Bill Kallenbach.
Bill is a farmer and sells coon dogs. (I am referring to raccoon hunting dogs.) Chances are pretty high that if you know of someone that likes to hunt coons...they know Bill Bob Kallenbach! He beats to the sound of his own drum. You may spot him from time to time bringing the A-1 Boys their snacks. He comes into the break room unloading bags of chips, cookies and Cokes like the Snack Santa. You will hear him whistling along and then he is gone. But the presents he leaves behind are enjoyed for days. He keeps busy...but he is never in a hurry. He doesn't get too excited about anything. He just goes about his business and pulling out index cards from his front pocket consulting what to do next.
Now, back to my husband John, he has given me a little insight on when he may consider raising prices. He has put out a 2014-2015 catalog. The next catalog to come out in 2016 will be when we celebrate 25 years. Perhaps then we will see higher prices. My guess is that we will still be making the best tools at affordable prices!
